Oculus hatte mit den Touch Controllern sehr gute Motion Controller auf den Markt gebracht, doch das Produkt hat auch noch einige Kinderkrankheiten. So leiden viele Nutzer unter einem schlechten Tracking, auch wenn mehr als zwei Kameras verwendet werden. Oculus möchte das Problem mit dem nächsten Update lösen, doch gleichzeitig spricht Oculus eine Warnung aus, dass die Verwendung von weiteren Kameras nicht zu einer Verbesserung führt.

Oculus hat auf dem eigenen Blog eine Anleitung veröffentlicht, die euch helfen soll, einen “Killer VR Room” einzurichten. Oculus geht in der Anleitung davon aus, dass drei Kameras das optimale Setup für einen solchen Raum darstellen. Oculus sagt, dass die Verwendung von mehr als drei Kameras eher zu technischen Problemen und zu Schwankungen in der Performance führt. Deshalb empfiehlt das Unternehmen, nicht auf ein Setup mit mehr als drei Kameras zu setzen.
Doch wie werden die Kameras laut Oculus optimal aufgestellt?
In der Anleitung von Oculus werden verschiedenen Situationen durchgespielt. Wenn ihr mit drei Kameras arbeiten möchtet und ein Room Scale Setup aufbauen wollt, dann empfiehlt Oculus, dass alle Kameras in die jeweiligen Ecken des Spielbereichs gestellt werden. Alle Kameras sollen auf eine Höhe von 2,50m gebracht werden und im 45 Grad Winkel auf den Spielbereich schauen.
Wie ihr in der Abbildung erkennen könnt, geht Oculus hierbei von einer Raumgröße von 3,70m x 3,70m aus. Da nicht jeder Raum diese Größe besitzen wird, kommt ihr ggf. nicht um den Kauf von Stativen herum. Für die Befestigung an der Wand könnt ihr eine einfache Wandhalterung für Kameras nehmen. Eine solche Halterung findet ihr beispielsweise hier.
Wenn ihr mit Stativen arbeiten müsst, dann können wir die Stative von Walimex empfehlen. Diese können auf eine Höhe von 256cm gebracht werden und sollten somit ein optimales Setup ermöglichen.
